Let's take a look at what Mr. Limbaugh was really up to.
According to police records of his prescriptions, El Rushbo was dropping about 10 of the highest-strength hydrocodone (e.g., Norco, Oxycontin) tablets available. Each pill that he was taking was 4 times the strength of what's typically prescribed. He was taking more twice the maximum prescribed dosage each day - and this is the heaviest duty stuff available - it's used for the worst pain imaginable.
So, in short, he was taking a dosage that no legitimate physician would ever prescribe.
Ladies and gentlemen, hydrocodone is an opiate. As in opium. Druggies rob pharmacies to get hold of this hydrocodone. Do they steal this stuff because it stops headaches? Of course not. They steal it because it gets you high as a kite. It's called "Hillbilly Heroin" for a good reason.
And this is just what we know that he was taking. Their were other accusations that Limbaugh was scoring drugs through various other mechanisms. If those accusations are true, then who knows how much of this stuff he was doing.
Make no mistake - Rush was a junkie who dramatically upped his dosing way beyond what any legitimate physician would have started him at. And he was doing it to get high as a kite.
